BIOGRAPHY

Eric Moynier, ASC is a Director of Photography whose work spans acclaimed television series, feature films, commercials, music videos, and pioneering VR projects. Most recently, he served as Director of Photography on the Apple TV+ series LAZARUS, starring Stephen Graham and Liev Schreiber. His recent work also includes JULIA (HBO Max), KALEIDOSCOPE (Netflix), and I’M A VIRGO (Amazon), from director Boots Riley. His other television credits include two seasons of THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL (Amazon Studios), BOARDWALK EMPIRE (HBO), THE BLACKLIST (Sony Pictures Television/NBC), THE GOOD COP (Netflix), Z: THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING(Amazon), MANHUNT (Discovery), HIT AND RUN (Netflix), and LITTLE AMERICA (Apple TV+).

Eric has also collaborated with Felix & Paul Studios on two award-winning VR experiences: the Peabody Award–winning MIYUBI and the SXSW Award–winning LE CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: DREAMS OF ‘O’.

Before becoming a Director of Photography, Eric worked extensively as a camera operator on feature films including REMEMBER ME, starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Allen Coulter; WIN WIN, starring Paul Giamatti; LETTERS TO JULIET, starring Amanda Seyfried; FADING GIGOLO, starring John Turturro; HAROLD & KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE; and Christopher Guest’s WAITING FOR GUFFMAN. His television work as an operator includes BELIEVE, from Alfonso Cuarón, and four seasons of HBO’s BOARDWALK EMPIRE.

Eric began photographing at a young age under the guidance of his father, a photojournalist and fashion photographer working in Paris and Montreal. He learned to shoot and process film in the darkroom of his father’s photo agency.

He began his film career in Montreal in the late 1980s. By the early 1990s he was shooting documentaries for The Learning Channel and Discovery Channel, work that took him across four continents—Asia, South and Central America, Africa, and Europe. He later expanded into music videos and commercials, shooting campaigns for clients including AT&T, McDonald’s, Kmart, Ericsson, Bud Light, Burger King, and Molson.
